Volunteering at Finca Almalibra
Off-grid living • Food forest • Shared family life
Volunteering at Finca Almalibra is a little like pressing pause on the outside world and stepping into something simple and alive.
We spend our mornings working together on the land and on practical projects — planting trees and vegetables, shaping the food forest, building with cob, or renovating parts of the finca. Sometimes we focus on one project for days or even weeks, other times we switch things up. The work is hands-on, grounded, and part of something that grows over time.
What we build here goes beyond the finca — the food forest is meant to support people in need over time.
What often surprises people most is how easily connection happens here. Conversations grow naturally, laughter finds its way into the day, and many volunteers leave with friendships that stay long after they’ve gone. Not because anything is forced, but because shared days have a way of bringing people together.
As the day winds down, evenings naturally come together. We cook, eat, talk, and relax after the work is done. The rest of the day flows freely — sometimes social, sometimes quiet, always at your own pace.
Volunteering here is about contributing, enjoying the process, and being part of a place where work, people, and everyday joy naturally meet.
If you’d prefer to stay with us without volunteering, you’re also welcome to come as a guest.

Working together
We usually volunteer around 3 hours a day, often in the morning.
The work is hands-on and varied — connected to the land, the food forest,
and the creative projects growing around the finca.
Life at the finca
Life here is shared and simple. Volunteers stay in shared spaces
and become part of the daily rhythm of an off-grid home,
with space for both shared moments and personal time.
Free time & adventure
Outside volunteering hours, there’s plenty of time to relax or explore.
We love heading into the mountains for hikes, discovering nearby rivers,
or sometimes simply staying home and enjoying a quiet day at the finca.
As the sun starts to go down, the energy of the day naturally shifts.
Evenings are often shared moments. Sometimes we cook and eat together at the table, other nights end around a campfire — talking, listening, or simply enjoying the fire and the quiet around us.
There’s no fixed plan and no expectations. Some evenings turn into long conversations, others stay simple and calm. Everyone joins in their own way.
These moments are where connections often deepen — not because they have to, but because there’s space for them to grow.
