Finca Almalibra
An off-grid place where land, people, and purpose grow together.
Located in Roquetes, at the foot of the Els Ports Naturel Park in Catalonia, Finca Almalibra is a living project rooted in care for the land and the people connected to it. This is not a finished place. It is growing.

A place in the making
Finca Almalibra invites people to slow down.
The name Almalibra is a wordplay.
It brings together three words that carry meaning for us:
Alma — soul,
Libra — balance,
and Libre — freedom.
Not as fixed ideas, but as something lived.
Something searched for, questioned, and experienced in different ways.
On this land, freedom and balance don’t look the same for everyone.
Some find it through physical work, others in stillness, shared meals, conversation, or simply being present.
Nothing is expected here.
There is space to arrive as you are,
and to discover, in your own way,
what freedom and balance mean to you.

Two people. Two rhythms. One shared place.
Finca Almalibra is shaped by two very different energies.
Both are essential to what this place is becoming.
Jana joined the place in 2023.
She first fell in love with Nathalie — and through that connection, with the land and the vision that was taking shape here.
Her involvement grew naturally, through living, working and sharing daily life on the finca.
Not from plans or structure, but from presence.
Jana brings grounding, physical strength and calm into the rhythm of the place.
Where things move fast, she brings slowness and balance.
She supports the life of the finca through hands-on work, care, and by holding harmony in the everyday.
Her presence helps keep the place human, lived-in and real —
a quiet strength within the larger process of building.
Finca Almalibra began as a personal desire to live off-grid and more self-sufficient.
The land was purchased in 2022, and from there the vision grew step by step — naturally, without a fixed plan.
Nathalie is the driving force behind the project.
She is constantly thinking, researching and organising — from compost systems and natural building methods to long-term planning and structure.
The project lives in her mind as much as on the land.
She leads groups, explains the work, and sees connections and problems early on.
Her way of working is fast, focused and solution-oriented.
Progress matters, because this project is not a hobby — it is a life vision.
Finca Almalibra exists because we believe food, dignity and connection belong together.
The food forest we are building is not only about free vegetables and fruit.
It is about participation.
About being part of something, instead of standing on the outside.
When life becomes financially difficult, people often withdraw.
They stay home more, meet fewer people, and slowly lose connection.
This place is meant to gently open that circle again.
Our long-term wish is to welcome people here regularly.
To spend a few hours together on the land — planting, caring, harvesting.
Not as charity, but as shared responsibility.
By helping to grow the food, people help sustain themselves and others.
Just as important, they share time, stories and everyday moments.
Friendships can grow.
A sense of belonging can return.
Everything that happens at Finca Almalibra supports this vision.
From the olive oil we produce, to the time shared with volunteers and guests,
to stays, walks and simple moments on the land —
each contribution helps carry the project forward.
Not as transactions,
but as shared support for a place that is meant to grow with care.
Finca Almalibra grows slowly,
carried by many hands,
and by the belief that a more human future is possible.
